Websites

The Doctor Within ( http://www.thedoctorwithin.com).
Are you interested in understanding the fundamental differences between traditional and holistic approaches to chronic disease? How about learning more about how your colon functions and how it relates to allergies, autoimmune diseases, etc, in layman's terms? This site accomplishes this and more.

The essence of this site, in my opinion, is expressed by the author in the quote below.

"Healers of the past have already solved most health problems of today. This website seeks to draw from the forgotten wisdom of the past, applying them to today's challenges.

Despite what you may hear, our health is deteriorating year by year. The rates of all degenerative diseases in this country are increasing. We have more asthma, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, depression, arthritis, allergies, digestive disorders, and obesity than ever before in history. At the same time we spend more and more money each year for "Health Care." We have more doctors and more drugs than any civilization in history. But it's not working.

What's not working is the underlying idea. If doctors and drugs could give us better health, we'd already be better. That is why the field of holistic and alternative medicine is growing so fast - it's survival."

There is a LOT of information here. If you want to focus on particular portions of the site, you may want to look at the following articles.

This site is impressive. I would highly recommend taking a look at this information.

Ask Dr. Stoll ( http://bcn.net/~stoll/index.html).
Trained as a traditional family physician and having practiced alternative medicine as well, Dr. Walt Stoll provides a unique perspective in dealing with health issues today. FREE - yes that's FREE - information is provided on the bulletin board to all who ask. This site provides a wealth of information relating to all types of health issues. Read the arthritis archives and everything you see by Robert McFerran if you have RA or any autoimmune disease. Also look at  Stoll's skilled relaxation article and the arkived discussions on the same site concerning this topic. One of the best values on the internet.

DietNet ( http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/rwgully/ ).
Isn't it difficult to compare the numerous diets out there these days? Which one is right for you (there is NO diet that is right for everyone)? The New Zealand-based DietNet site provides a brief discussion of several of the popular diets today (Atkins, The Zone, Eat Right for Your Type, etc.), defines "whole foods" and why our bodies need them, and discusses several of the major "natural" therapies available today.

Also included is the metabolic diet I have followed and substantial portions of Robert McFerran's book manuscript, which can help a person understand much of the theory behind the successful approach I have followed against RA. Go to the Site Map page to see this. The site also has a pretty comprehensive nutrition reading list. Take a look at this page to get a "cliff notes" view of some of the health and nutrition literature available today.

Rheumatoid Arthritis and Diet site ( http://www.paleodiet.com/ra ).
Have you been frustrated in trying to find meaningful, understandable information connecting diet and rheumatoid arthritis? This site has some excellent information on this subject, broken down into several categories: Sites by Individuals (mine is included), Research, Commercial Sites, Books, and Testing. You'll also find reference to Robert McFerran's work here.
